Director of Transportation
Position Responsibilities:
- Oversees all the transportation department responsibilities in Benton County and provid excellent customer service by ensuring that County residents arrive at their destination safely.
- Schedules trips from Vinton to Belle Plaine, to medical appointments, school and the mall.
- Performs supervisory duties including, but not limited to; assigning and checking work, establishing objectives, and conducting employee performance evaluations.
- Oversees the service and maintenance of the transportation vehicles.
- Maintains department budget
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Class C Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement or able to obtain within 6 months of employment
Skills Required:
- Ability to produce accurate and professional written documents.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize job activities to achieve maximum overall results.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourages openness with internal and external customers and peers.
- Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public, customers, and County personnel.
- Ability to supervise and direct the work of assigned personnel and ensure the team’s performance meets expectations.
- Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Products, e-mail, and job specific software
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Mechanical experience
- Knowledge/experience in scheduling

The visual requirements for this position are similar to those classified as machine operators, inspection, close assembly, clerical, administrative. This is a minimum standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines (including inspection), using measurement devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
This position will require flexibility to work additional hours beyond the typical work day when needed including evenings and weekends.

This worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. The worker is required to travel, by car, van, or bus, within the six county region.
