Roadside Manager
This position reports to the Board of Supervisors and administers a program of ecosystem management that seeks to promote the health of Iowa’s native plants, animals and insects.
Benton County is currently accepting applications for a full-time Roadside Manager position. Duties include operating the Iowa Roadside Management program in accordance with Iowa Code Chapter 314, assuming the duties of Weed Commissioner pursuant to Iowa Code Chapter 317, and providing supervision, training, and coordination to staff and other County Departments in these areas.
Successful applicants will have the following:

Bachelor’s Degree in biology, botany, horticulture, wildlife management, or related field and at least two (2) years of related work experience, OR any equivalent of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Class B Commercial Driver’s license with air brake endorsement and be insurable under county guidelines.
- Maintain a valid pesticide applicator's license in category 6 (Right-of-way) and category 1A (Agriculture). (Must be licensed within 6 months of hire.)
- Maintain NWCG Wildland Fire Certifications – S130, S190, S290. (Must obtain within 6 months of hire.)
