Health Insurance
Benton County offers Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance to eligible employees. Premiums are based on the number of regularly scheduled hours an employee works.
Enrolling or Changing Your Plan
Benton County employees have a 30-day window from their date of hire to enroll for health insurance. Employees also have a 30-day window from the date of a qualifying life event to change their health insurance policy.
Life Events
Qualifying life events include:
- A change in your marital status (marriage, divorce, or legal separation)
- Adding a dependent (birth or adoption of a child)
- If you or a covered dependent lose or gain eligibility for coverage
- The death of a covered dependent
Please contact Human Resources within 30 days if a qualifying event takes place and you'd like to make changes to your dental policy. If the 30-day deadline is missed, changes cannot be made until another qualifying life event takes place.
Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment occurs annually in the spring. Employees will be notified before the open enrollment period begins. If you'd like to make a change to your health insurance policy, you can do so during this time.
