Benton County Emergency Assistance

Chapter 251 Code of Iowa – Emergency Relief Administration
Chapter 252 Code of Iowa – Support of the Poor

Settlement: According to code 252.16 - Must reside in the county for a period of one
year, with the exception of other situations described in the Code of Iowa.


PURPOSE
General Assistance is emergency assistance for low income and indigent residents of Benton County.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicants must meet financial guidelines established by the Benton County Board of Supervisors and have applied for all other means of assistance.
  • Proof of income for all household members.

ASSISTANCE PROVIDED

  • Rent
    Do not pay deposits
     
  • Utilities
    Do not pay deposits
    Must be in applicant's name
     
  • Burial/Cremation
