Federal Assistance
In addition to county services, the Veterans Affairs Department provides assistance with federal benefits and other aid.
We provide help for all honorable discharged veterans and/or their family members in applying for federal benefits and other veterans aid, which include but are not limited to:
- Applying for VA Medical Care - health care and medications
- Compensation - a monthly benefit for injury incurred or aggravated by service
- Pension - income-based financial assistance program for veterans
- Applying to the Iowa Veterans Home
- Military Records - obtaining and upgrading
- Burial Benefits and Grave Markers
- Educational Benefits
- Home Loan Benefits
- Emergency Assistance
